Multi-Use Water Bottle
I was tasked with creating a compact, discrete, FDA-approved carrying case for an orphan drug for Horizon Therapeutics. The case had to have storage for a cap, vial, and syringe with given dimensions.
Our solution was a multi-use water bottle. It looks and functions as a regular water bottle as it has a large compartment for water. However hidden underneath is a screw-off compartment for orphan drug medication tools. Our water bottle had internal padding to protect internal materials from potential drops. It's overall look and functionality as a water bottle makes it perfect for students as it is discrete, functional, durable, and has a built in storage area on the side of backpacks.

DESIGN
When given this problem, we picked the target age group of teenagers at school. In order to make teenagers feel the fit-in, we made a lot of our solutions geared toward being very discrete. We had a plethora of ideas fitting those constraints. We ended up combining some our ideas and designs to create a compact, discrete, durable solution.
PROTOTYPING
We decided on a multi-use water bottle due to it's durability, compact structure, built-in storage in backpacks, and discrete look. We added foam to protect against drops, and used a hidden screw-off compartment for easy access to medication tools. We modeled our prototype on CAD and eventually 3D printed the structure as our prototype.
PRESENTATION
Our group was one of the few chosen to present our solution to biopharmaceutical company Horizon Pharma (now, Horizon Therapeutics) due to our solution's durability, functionality, and discrete aspect. We presented a cost analysis, drop testing results, a demonstration, and displayed out prototype. The company loved our innovative ideas, especially the discrete aspect.
